Hospital uniforms are common attire worn by nurses and doctors in all hospitals today. They are commonly known as scrubs. In the past, scrubs have been worn by surgeons who wore it in the operating room. At the beginning they were made all white to emphasize cleanliness. The combination of the bright operating room lights and white scrubs became strenuous on the eyes of the surgeon and the staff.
